It is certainly heartening to see the tourism industry in Singapore thriving!
The future prospects look even brighter with dynamic growth forecasted. The Singapore Tourism Board has set targets to achieve $30 billion tourism receipts from 17 million visitors by 2015. As such, the tourism industry will see a surge in manpower demands for the next 3-7 years.
Inadvertently, the need to level up the skills-base of tourism workers here has become paramount. There is now an urgent need for a professional pool of tourism workers. The Government plans to invest more than $360 million to train 74,000 tourism workers here to enhance the professionalism of industry.
The role of Continuing Education and Training (CET) for adults is set to escalate. It will be the main vehicle for actualizing the tourism manpower developmental plans for Singapore. In the next few years, more continuing education courses for adults will be launched which includes initiatives to attract more workers to join the industry.
The Tourism Academy @ Sentosa, is committed to provide skills upgrading and professional development courses for adult learners. The academy conducts regular training for its partner, Sentosa Leisure Group as well as the other Island Partners located on Sentosa. In addition, we have partnered WDA to launch the WSQ Diploma in Tourism, catered to working adults keen to upgrade their skills as well as adults from other industries looking forward to a career switch.
In the next few years, we will be launching many more tourism related CET programs for industry members. We urge you to look out for them and capitalize on the funding provided by the relevant governmental bodies to elevate the professionalism in your organization. We are at your service; please call us for your staff training and development needs!
