Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is a very good time to be in the hospitality and tourism business. It is huge. It is colourful and exciting. With Asia booming, it is no wonder that both leisure and business travel are thriving. Best of all, jobs are abundant.
Many people who are in it will tell you that it can be challenging too. After all making dreams come true for holiday-makers, planning events, organising conferences for 1,000 people, running a resort, a restaurant or a travel agency requires many different skills.
Here at The Tourism Academy, our aim is clear. We recruit the people who have the passion and the personality to do well in this people-business. Over two years we go through a rigorous programme where we develop minds and shape attitudes. We seek to equip students with confidence to communicate with others, and to tackle problems head-on. Along this eventful journey, both staff and students have fun engaging each other, our Sentosa partners and industry friends to build lasting friendships.
I am heartened to see the results. It has much to do with the support given by Temasek Polytechnic and Sentosa Leisure Group, and the endless energy of the team of professionals here.
